Virtual Art Talk with Juan Logan, Chris Whittey, and Shantay Robinson

April 15, 2021 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Please join us for a discussion between Chris Whittey, the Alan F. Rothschild Distinguished Chair of Art at Columbus State University,

Shantay Robinson, Freelance Writer of Black Arts and Culture with Contributions to Burnaway, Black Art in America, and more, and Juan Logan, artist showcased in Creating and Collecting at the Bartlett Center.

Nationally and internationally known artist Juan Logan has been creating since 1960 while collecting works that have inspired and informed his creative process. In Juan Logan: Creating and Collecting, a dialogue exists between Logan’s creations and his family collection, which features some of the most influential artists from the 1970s to the present, including Jasper Johns, Claes Oldenburg, Elizabeth Catlett, Mark Bradford, and Robert Rauschenberg. This collection has, directly and indirectly, inspired his work, and the exhibition asks questions and brings awareness of the constructs, injustices, and hypocrisies that define American culture.

This exhibition originated at the Hickory Museum of Art.
