February 7 – May 12, 2023
Unaccompanied is a project that began in late 2016. It is an artistic outgrowth of Capshaw’s inquiry into the invisibility of youth experiencing homelessness. In collaboration with community youth centers across the United States, she painted her first portraits in Los Angeles followed by cities including San Francisco, Fargo, Porcupine, Minneapolis, Chicago, St. Louis, and New York City. Working closely with sound artist Joshua-Michéle Ross, Capshaw invited participants from the portraits and the youth centers, so their voices would be included in this work.
Public Reception: Thursday, February 16th, from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM EST
Artist Talk: Wednesday, February 15th, from 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM EST
